My photo walk of 21 August 2009 |
21 August 2009 75 minute brisk walk Sometimes when I leave home on a photo walk I have no idea where I'm going. I just take off walking in a random direction and see what inspires me. Today I had a specific goal, to cross the Columbia Street bridge over Highway 127 and investigate that area. I headed up Jefferson Street past the new Dos Tres Amigos restaurant, which has finally opened after many months. I crossed the street and headed down the opposite alley and snapped a few shots of an area not formerly documented. Then it was off to Columbia Street, walking past the Mason Elevator Company. I reached the Keith L. Hayes Park on Columbia Street just before reaching the Hwy 127 overpass. I've documented walks that included the Keith Hayes Park on a couple occasions, but this time I headed west over the bridge and located a couple housing developments Sycamore Village and Coventry Woods. I didn't explore the side streets (a future trip, no doubt) since I had pretty well reached my limit for this walk (I always have to keep in mind that I have to walk the return trip, however far I've already walked). I headed back and took a few additional shots showing a bus stop, a nice collection of sunflowers, a friendly cat and a rusty building next to the train tracks. As I was returning home and paused to take the previous photo of sunflowers surrounding a telephone poll I felt something brushing my leg. I was a friendly black cat rubbing up against my leg. I took several photos but this was the only one where the cat wasn't blurred by motion. |
