My photo walk of 28 August 2009

57 minute brisk walk. ... My Trip to the Grocery Store

This walking trip included shopping at the local Meijer grocery store. I naturally didn't buy a lot of heavy stuff. To make the walk last longer I went a round about way, walking on the Hayhoe Riverwalk trail part of the way. When I reached Kipp Road I headed to the 127 overpass intending to cross the bridge, but it wasn't really safe to walk on the bridge. Instead, I climbed down the embankment and crossed under the bridge towards the south, intending to find a way to the grocery store from the highway. Since there was a fence running along the highway I took the exit back onto Kipp Road. At this point I began taking photos.

The first photos show the wild area running next to the store. At night I have heard geese on this water during my walks in that area. I made my way through the parking lot to the store. I found a number of interesting details of the building. After finishing my shopping I attached my new 0.45x wide angle attachment. I knew from previous experimentation that there would be some vignetting but thought the effect would still be interesting. All the photos but one were taking at the widest setting (35mm effective focal length). In one photo I zoomed out (to about 60mm effective focal length) to eliminate the vignetting. The resulting effective focal length with the 0.45x factor is a little wider than available with the lone camera lens, but I found the vignetting was not completely unattractive. All the remaining photos were taken along the path home. The final two photos are of my house.

The wide angle attachment is described as "Super High Resolution Deluxe Digital Lenses" with the brand name Richarm manufactured by Changchun Richen Optronics Co. ltd. in China. It consists of two lens screwed together. One acts as a macro lens attachment when used individually. Unfortunately, I didn't notice a foreign object on one of the lenses which shows up in the photos as a dark or orange spot at about the 10 O'clock position. The resolution seems to suffer quite a bit near the edges.
