My photo walk of 7 May 2011 (Spring Fling) |
7 May 2011 Spring Fling in Mason Each Spring Mason holds the "Spring Fling" on the town square. We have four blocks of booths set up for selling various items and publicizing community organizations, an entertainment area to showcase local talent, and food vendors, some of them local organizations doing fundraising. I usually find some excellent baked goods to take home and enjoy for several days as well as a few gifts for future birthdays and Christmas. My right hip was rather sore from yesterday's 5K race but we only live about four blocks from the town square so we walked over. Following are a few shots of our walk and visit to the Spring Fling. The battery of my new Olympus PEN E-PL2 micro 4/3rds camera, so I resorted to my older Canon G11, used for my photo walks for over a year now. I paused to record a nice outbreak of toadstools next to the sidewalk. Also seen is a shadow of me taking the photo. I was rather surprised to see a young lady putting on some rather remarkable shoes to wear to the Spring Fling. They were springy, allowing her to bounce along, though it appeared to be a difficult thing to do. |
Here is a view from the corner as we approached the town square. Following are a number of photos showing various vendor booths. |
Above is a view of the entertainment area followed by a photo of one of the children's play areas. |
Public facilities were available near the courthouse. Several food concessions were set up. Lastly is shown one of the clever products sold. One regular product for sell is the water balloon yo-yo, a rather remarkable concept. |
