17 August 2013 - Fire on East Cherry Street |
17 August 2013 - Fire on East Cherry Street I was surprised to hear some sirens nearby, so I stepped out my front door and saw several emergency vehicles in the street with lights blinking away. I grabbed my camera and headed out to see what was going on. Just a few houses west of my house there were several fire department vehicles plus a police car. The first photo below shows the street scene from the front of my house. The activity was around the house of the corner of Barnes Street and Cherry street. A wooden fence in the back of the parking area for the house was on fire. I heard from a resident of the house that this same fence had been on fire less than a year ago. Someone playing with matches? .. arsen? ... bad luck? A passer by had spotted the fire and alerted the house's residents. so the Mason volunteer fire department arrived and ended the danger very quickly. You can see the hoses plus some foam they layed down to control the fire threat. I heard that a car near the fence had sustained damage, so I scouted out a view showing the car. Several photos below show the damaged fence and the front of the car, which looks like the flames were hot enough to melt the body of the car in the front.
