8 June 2014 - The Wooden Soldiers of Mason |
8 June 2014 - The Wooden Soldiers of Mason When the time came for another exercise walk I was anxious to head over to the Mason City Hall to examine the wooden soldier statues that recently appeared. When I arrived I was surprised not to see the two statues I expected but rather a set of eight statues. I haven't yet discovered the reason these statues have appeared. One theory is they were placed there to celebrate Memorial Day, but that has not been confirmed. At any rate, these statues were certainly a surpised and a remarkable display of artistry. Following are photos of the Mason City Hall, various views of the wooden statue of American soldiers, and a few other shots taken in the city center area. Across the street from City Hall next to the Dart Bank parking lot is a building being demolished. |
