28 July 2014 - Ingham County Fair in Mason |
28 July 2014 - Ingham County Fair in Mason - Monday Today was the opening day of the County Fair. I went with my wife Anne and granddaughter Hazel. The timing was determined by the schedule for the bake sale, one thing I never miss. All baked good entries have one piece removed for the display case, one for tasting by the judges, and the remaining pieces are placed in the bake sale. This is one of those times when caution must be thrown to the wind. It is so much fun to try the various interesting creations entered and I enjoy the variety. I may have to cut stuff into smaller pieces to avoid tooo many carbs, but boy do I enjoy it. Below are photos of some of the entries for competition, including the baked goods and table of baked goods for sale. The blue ribbon entries always command the top prices. That's Hazel in front of the table of sales items. Click on any photo to see a larger version in a popup window. |
To start are a few general photos. The first shows an enhanced photo of the historical marker showing information about the first Ingham County Fair in 1855, followed by some of the maps of the fairgrounds. Next is Gerald Baldwin, who has been a gate keeper for the Fair for over a dozen years (8am to 10pm every day). Additional photos show some other activities, such as horsemanship and tractor pulls. There's something for just about everyone at the Fair. |
