21 June 2015 - Fire at Kean's Store Company |
21 June 2015 - Fire at Kean's Store Company An unusual number of emergency vehicle alarms were heard today. May wife and I walked to our daughter and son-in-law's house for Fathers Day dinner and discovered they were not at home. A text message told us they were watching the fire a block from their home. We joined them for what is documented in the photos below. A number of local fire departments sent units to join the Mason Fire Department to put out the fire in the Baja Grill located in Kean's Store building. The word is that it started in the basement of the restaurant due to an electrical issue. Considerable damage was inflicted on the restaurant and the entire building suffered smoke and water damage. My daughter's business "Twisted Fiber Art" in the lower level of Kean's had smoke damage and some water damage. As a result of the temporary closing of the building my daughter Meg Cambell-Crawley, owner and artistic director of Twisted Fiber Art, is relocating her business temporarily in her home. Hopefully it will not take too long to reopen in Kean's, though some predictions suggest 2-3 months could be required. The photos below were taken using the camera at hand, an iPhone 6 Plus.
