15 August 2015- Mason Aviation Days at Jewett Field |
15 August 2015 - Mason Aviation Days at Jewett Field The Mason airport is just south of the High School. My trike ride from home to airport was about 1.5 miles. Parking is somewhat simplified with my trike since I can ride right in and just looks for some out of the way spot to park. There are always a nice selection of small planes on display at the Mason Aviation Days and I have photographs of most of them below. I particularly enjoy photographing the highly reflective plane and took a number of "selfies" by including myself in the reflections (one of those photos appears below). I also used a fisheye lens for several photos which combines an extremely wide angle view with considerable distortion around the edges of the frame. This lens provides a unique point of view and is a fun lens to use. There are always a few interesting groups at this event, such as the Jackson Model Rocketry Club and the Capital Area Radio Drone Squadron of Lansing. There is usually also an opportunity to get a ride for a fee, such as the apparently popular helicoptor ride. Plane rides, food, getting close to a variety of air planes, discussions with enthusiasts about models, seeing what's in all those hangers at Jewett Field ... what more could you ask for?
