12-16 October 2015 - A Trip to the Petoskey area in Michigan |
12-16 October 2015 - A Trip to Petoskey, Charlevoix, Boyne City and surrounding area in Michigan We went on a trip around the Petoskey, Michigan area in a somewhat off-season to avoid crowds and saw some nice color in the landscapes due to the fall weather. We also managed to have lunch at a good fish and chip shop, have a guided tour through the Kilwins chocolate factory in Petoskey, enjoy nature walks surrounding our residence at The Hilltop Gardens, view the buildings and homes of the area via additional walking trips, and had some very nice meals in general. I also discovered a wonderful cheese in a grocery store, a goat cheese brie from Canada: Woolwich Dairy Triple Crème Goat Brie. I strongly recommend it to brie lovers! We stopped at Max and Emily's Eatery in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, home of Central Michigan University. As we approach our destination I turned off at the above marker for a first look at the water. The first two photos below show some of what I saw there. |
Above is the Kilwins chocolate factory and store along with me all dressed up for the tour. The special hair nets covered both head and beard. We had a great time here and purchased some excellent chocolate. |
The last five photos above show the environment of our living quarters. The walking trails were quite pleasant. One photo shows my wife Anne on a trail. The last photo shows the house where we stayed. |
Above are our hosts Lois & Art Gibbs, owners of the Hilltop Gardens. We occupied the entire lower level of the house and were quite comfortable. |
