31 July 2017 - Ingham County Fair, Mason, Michigan |
31 July 2017 - Ingham County Fair, Mason, Michigan The annual Ingham County Fair is held this time of year at the fairgrounds located about a mile from our house. We can hear many of the activities, such as the tractor pulling contests. It's conveniently located for walking, but we usually drive. My favorite event is the bake sale, where the entries to the baking competition are sold off to raise funds for specific fair activities. If you enter brownies, you must include at least 14 units, one brownie for the judges, one for the public display of entries, and a dozen for the bake sale. Some of my best treats of the year come from this sale. Like many county fairs, I suspect, this one is very much dedicated to farm issues. There are many displays of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4H organzations along with displays and competitions of farm products and animals. These things, along with the rides and game on the midway and the traditional fair food, make up our local fair. Following is a selection of photos of these things, starting with the Bingo tent.
