SIM Michael Millstone
Greetings,
My name is Michael Millstone and I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, USA. I was and am still a Dolphins fan since they started in 1976. I attended home games in the Orange Bowl for the first 10-years, including the still famous perfect season in 1972.
I joined the United States Air Force right out of college and served my entire career in the Space and Satellite Operations career field, specifically in various training roles from OJT instructor, course development and delivery, to training group leadership and management. My last assignment was the Superintendent of Space Operations for Headquarters, Air Force Space Command. My assignments took me to many exotic locations such as Australia, Alaska, Germany, Italy, England, and some not so exotic (but just as interesting assignments) in Florida, Texas, New York, Colorado, and Nebraska.
After retirement from the Air Force, I continued this path in the corporate world joining several world class hi-tech corporate Learning and Development organizations. With my recent certification as a Return on Investment Professional (CRP), I have been studying training organizations within a company as independent cost centers, looking to maximize productivity and ROI.
I earned my Ph.D in Business (Organization and Management) from Capella University, a Master of Arts in Business with emphasis in Accounting and Finance through Webster University, a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts through the University of the State of New York, and an Associate of Applied Science degree through the Air University – Community College of the Air Force.
I’m presently an Assistant Professor with three on-line schools and one brick and mortar school, teaching management, accounting, finance, and statistics class at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I share a wonderful house with my wife in the Valley of the Sun – Phoenix, Arizona (or is it a wonderful wife with a house?) and two cats, Punkee and Snickee. I think the latter is better. Aside from that, I am an ICCF Senior International Chess Master, Direct Entry Administrator, and member of the ICCF Financial Committee. I’m also an FAA Commercial pilot with instrument, multi-engine, and instructor endorsements. I love to read (textbooks?), travel, and participate in ultra-long walks. My most recent was a non-stop 100 km (a little over 62 miles) walk called the Dodentocht, or Bornem Death March in Belgium.
