The APCT Rating System

The APCT rating system is an adaptation of the Elo scale. It is based on the concept that ratings should reflect playing strength rather than serve as reward. It should be noted that games won by withdrawal are not rated; games won by forfeit are rated. The following table will assist the individual player to calculate his rating gain or loss with each result published.

High Wins means: number of points the higher rated player gains and the lower rated player loses if the higher rated player wins the game.

Low Wins means: number of points higher rated player loses and the lower rated player gains if the lower rated player wins the game.

Draw (Low Gains) means: number of points lower rated player gains and higher rated player loses if game is drawn.
