The legend reads "Victoria Queen"
for coins dated 1862, the only year this design was minted for
circulation.
It reads "Victoria Empress" for coins dated
1885-1901.
The 1/2 Pice saw limited minting, with no
coins minted for circulation between 1862 and 1885. The Madras
mint only made 1862 coins. The Calcutta mint was the only other
mint used, and it produced coins from 1862-1901.
There are no known major variations in
types for Obverse and Reverse designs, unlike the other
series of coins. Therefore, this page only shows the obverse
designs with Victoria Queen and Victoria Empress, plus photographs
of the reverses of these coins (no variation in design).
